A structured outreach initiative serving children and families in one of Kristiansand’s most multicultural neighborhoods through summer camp ministry,
Purpose
Building meaningful relationships with families in the multicultural Slettheia community through practical service, children’s ministry, and long-term gospel-centered outreach.
What to Expect
Each summer, OM Norway hosts Love Slettheia Summer Camp, a free outreach for local children and families in the Slettheia community of Kristiansand.
Slettheia is a vibrant and diverse neighborhood with a significant immigrant population, located just a few kilometers from the OM Norway office. Several years ago, a vision emerged to intentionally build relationships with predominantly Muslim families in the area by creating a welcoming and joy-filled summer camp experience for local children.
Since then, the ministry has grown beyond a single week of outreach. Through relationships formed during camp, a small group of families has begun gathering regularly in the field leader’s home to study God’s Word together.
The outreach runs from Saturday to Sunday (11–19 July 2026), with the children’s camp taking place Monday to Friday. The opening weekend is dedicated to team arrival, orientation, prayer, and preparation. This allows participants time to settle in, build community, and prepare together before camp begins.
From Monday to Friday, the team meets the children at the local school for camp activities held primarily during the morning and early afternoon. More than one hundred children typically participate in small-group activities such as sports, baking, music, woodwork, dance, games, and creative workshops. The children hear the gospel through dramatized Bible stories, share snacks together, and are prayed for by the team.
