The Birth of a Movement
In the late 1950s, a small group of students, inspired by their faith, embarked on a mission to share the gospel in Mexico. This initial step of obedience would become the spark that ignited Operation Mobilization. “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14). What began as a grassroots effort quickly grew, as more individuals caught the vision of reaching the nations for Christ.
The early years were characterized by boldness and sacrifice. Missionaries traveled to regions where the gospel was largely unknown, relying on God to open doors and provide for their needs. This pioneering spirit continues to define OM’s work today.
OM in Canada
OM’s story in Canada began with a shared passion to see lives transformed by the gospel. As the movement expanded, Canadian believers joined the mission, bringing their unique perspectives and talents to the global effort.
Today, OM Canada is a vibrant hub for mobilization, equipping individuals and churches to engage in God’s mission. From training programs to cross-cultural outreach, our work reflects a commitment to both local and global impact.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).
Canadian believers have played a critical role in OM’s vision, stepping into their God-given callings to serve the least reached.
Every step of OM’s journey has been met with challenges—from navigating cultural differences to enduring financial hardships. Yet, through it all, God has been faithful. In Canada, this has meant adapting to a changing landscape while staying true to our mission.
